Bwaaiin!!!

it’s THE feeling!

There will be reviews…soon! March movie guide (Philippines)

Posted by emperorbananaketchup on March 2, 2008

As I have been relying on ClickTheCity.com’s weekly movie guide for updates, I could be thrown a wrench when it comes to release date changes.  For instance, Semi-Pro was supposed to come out on the 1st week of March, but I don’t see it on that site’s still slideshow of next week’s releases.

As with last month’s posts, titles in italics are Philippine films (the majority of which I frankly don’t give a freakin’ damn).  Titles in orange are my own personal picks…reviews shall be forthcoming soonish.

over her dead body
10,000 b.c.
sleuth
half blood samurai
ate
across the universe

10,000 BC – a Stone Age epic.  Without dinosaurs, though – but there’s a whole lotta woolly mammoth and sabre-tooth tiger action around.  Should be fun, though…the trailers look gorgeous (Is a multi-platform game not far behind??)   As for Across The Universe, this must strike a deep chord to this longtime Beatles fan.   Can’t wait to see how this well-reviewed, ambitious tribute to the Fab Four shall pan out in local cinemas.

10,000 BC

Across The Universe

As for Over Her Dead Body…over my dead body would I be caught on the queue for this.

meet the spartans
why did i get married
asylum
the hottie & the nottie
super fighter
atonement

Yay – at long last!  Atonement should put up a good fight against the trashy likes of Meet the Spartans and The Hottie and the Nottie.   Talk about a rose flourishing in the middle of a dungheap.  Speaking of smelly stuff, here’s Asylum - more torture porn, this time from the helmer of the under-whelming Snakes On A Plane.

Why Did I Get Married…I’m quite surpised that a Tyler Perry film would actually make it to local moviehouses, given that Pinoys tend to be indifferent to dramas with predominantly African-American casts.   But I guess Janet Jackson’s appearance could hook them in (if you want to get clued up to Tyler Perry and his signature “Madea” character, you can check out Madea’s Family Reunion on HBO)

Mar. 16

unfinished business (Pacquiao-Morales rematch)

Mar. 22

Supah Papalicious
horton hears a who
manay po 2
ikaw pa rin
fool’s gold
the war lords
doomsday

Horton Hears a Who’s title get’s concatenated to just Horton locally?  Just goes to show that Pinoys aren’t too much into reading…then again, it’s nice to see Jim Carrey serve the Seuss estate once again (as well as reunite with Bruce Almighty co-star Steve Carrell.)

Horton meets the Mayor

War Lords (with English subtitles)

War Lords looks good also…a Chinese historical drama with Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro from Million Dollar Baby co-producer Andre Morgan.  Doomsday (or should it be called Vrrooooommmmsday) comes off as an intriguing crossbreed of 28 Days/Week Later and Mad Max…hm, wait a sec, wasn’t that already done as Resident Evil: Extinction????

Rhona Mitra doing her Transporter-ette thing with a Bentley – me liiikeeeey!!!

Do I hear sooo many echoes of 300 here in this trailer???

(No movie releases for Mar. 29 – it’s Holy Week over here and the malls are all closed, with moviegoers headed off to the beaches of their choice or to their respective provinces)
